Program Details (Back to Programs)

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) practice autonomously and collaboratively as part of health care teams to deliver patient care. At the Artists' Health Centre, the NP partners with patients and practitioners to initiate workup and management of medical issues arising from and/or impacting artistic practice.  This may involve physical exam, ordering lab tests, imaging or other diagnostic tests, education, prescribing medications, and/or referring to other practitioners at the Artists' Health Centre and elsewhere.

Issues the AHC NP can help you to address:

  • Injuries (acute or chronic), pain, weakness or problems with muscles, joints, tendons and connective tissues related to or impacting arts practice (playing music, sculpting, digital work)
  • Headaches
  • Vocal changes or pain
  • Hearing concerns
  • Depression, anxiety, or stress impacting ability to engage with artistic practice
  • Other health concerns directly related to pursuit of arts practice or studies
