Expressive Arts for Mental Health: Transformation & Metamorphosis
Inspired by the imaginal cells and the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, this session will use intermodal art-making to explore the themes of transformation and metamorphosis. Working inter-modally means using multiple forms of art, such as storytelling, image-making, movement, sound, play/imagination, or silence, in one session. Participants will explore their own experiences of change and growth to uncover the untapped resources and potential for transformation that exist within each person.
The workshop includes a group check-in, an arts-based sensory warm-up to awaken the senses, and the main expressive arts activity to help participants shift their usual ways of thinking and break away from habitual patterns. We will conclude with group sharing and a check-out, allowing participants to reflect on and integrate their experiences.
This session aims to help you explore the hidden potential within yourself and understand how change happens, both gradually and suddenly. No prior art experience is needed—just come with an open mind and a willingness to explore!
This workshop is for artists of all disciplines
